What Is K.U.P.I.D, Inc.?

“I believe that there are two types of people in this world, people who set trends and people who follow them.”

In today’s fashion conscious world, the everyday routine of getting dressed and looking presentable is sometimes a struggle for many. The “re-vamping” of ones style tends to become more and more difficult with each passing trend; however, without this difficulty some people would have no reason to get up every morning. Titus Jefferson is one of those people.

Titus J. is an up and coming Image Consultant/Fashion Stylist and earns his living as an Occupational Therapist Assistant. Now residing in Tupelo, MS, Jefferson discovered his love of clothing and style as young boy in his hometown of Bassfield, MS, and 20 years later K.U.P.I.D, Inc. was born.

“K.U.P.I.D is an acronym that stands for Kreating & Uplifting Positive Images Daily,” explained Jefferson. “Let’s Make History”. That is the mission statement, motto & driving force behind K.U.P.I.D, Inc; to not just limit oneself to one genre such as fashion but to ultimately build a brand that expands to music, apparel, entertainment, athletics, and beyond,” Jefferson said.

A distinguished member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., Jefferson channels all the skills and expertise he has picked up about fashion from not only his fraternity brothers, but some of the most important people in his life.

“The major inspiration behind starting my own fashion consultation was my grandmother. She told me at a very young age that she wanted me to grow up & be a nice gentleman. My father and his sense of style and the way that he carried himself further instilled this in me. Lastly, but most certainly not least is my mentor J. Bolin. After attending his “Welcome to the Dollhouse” fashion show in Jackson [MS], I was inspired to do my own fashion show in Tupelo,” Jefferson said.

That is how the vision began. Soon Jefferson had produced and managed a fashion show production in Tupelo as well as contributing to other shows. Jefferson had found his passion; not only did he want to communicate his vision of fashion to the world but he, also strives to service and inspire others on a daily basis.

Jefferson’s sense of style and charismatic aura captivates both women and men alike. It is not unusual to see perfect strangers to stop and take notice of Jefferson’s flawless ensembles and state the ever-present words: “You look really nice.” Jefferson always smiles humbly and thanks them before walking away, leaving him feeling as if he has made his mark on the world once again.

Jefferson never allows his ensembles to come together without the expected head turning reactions; not for him or his clients. He takes his time. He uses pieces that can stand the constraints of time. And he always makes sure that comfort reigns over big name labels.

“I have at my disposal the talents of up and coming fashion designers. This grants me the ability to constantly revamp & update my current wardrobe and add the "WOW" factor to my daily ensemble,” Jefferson said.

Jefferson was featured in The Hattiesburg American “Pinebelt’s Best Dressed” list in the summer of 2007 before relocating to Tupelo in April 2008. Jefferson expects no less for the clients he consults. He follows three criteria in which he uses to work with his clients: personality, purpose, and passion. Each assists Jefferson in different ways in creating a unique style for the clients.

Fashion is a concept that Jefferson has no trouble conquering; the one obstacle that does come in to play for Jefferson is not the clothes, but the geography.

“The majority of Mississippians lack what I like to call a “fashion identity”. When I travel places like Atlanta, New Orleans, Memphis, & Dallas, the residents of those cities possess a certain type swagger unique to their region. What I work to achieve with my company is bestowing that same intellect of style to Mississippians,” Jefferson explains.

Jefferson hopes to “raise the bar” not only for his clients and Mississippians style, but also for the social scenes, the classrooms, and the work place. He also hopes to continue raising the bar for himself and his company. K.U.P.I.D. Inc. is one of first mainstream Image Consultations in the state and shows great promise of becoming so much more.

Whether it is choosing a dress for an important business meeting, an outfit for a fashion show, putting together a college after party, speaking to a group of middle -schoolers about their dreams or completing his own dream of dressing President Barack Obama, Jefferson takes pride in everything he does; especially how he presents himself.
