Xzibit, Tank, and Titus J. Are Not Fans of Planking

 Orlando Magic star Gilbert Arenas and Dwight Howard recently released pictures of them ‘planking,’ a fad that has swept the entire world in just a few years and has somehow reached the U.S in the last few weeks. Though there is much argument on how the craze began, it was reportedly “invented” in 1997 in England, and became popular in 2009 when a group of doctors and nurses in England were fired for playing while on duty. Other reports claim it was originated in Australia, the country that claimed it’s first ‘planking’ death recently when a man fell from a balcony and Brisbane while his friend photographed him.

To play the ridiculous game, you lay down straight, face down, with your arms at your side in public on or around a random object. The more unusual the better. You then upload the photo to the planking facebook page or a social network and let the commenting begin. While many celebrities have joined in on the game of ‘planking’ which has taken the world by storm, rapper Xzibit finds planking extremely racist and is definitely not afraid to speak out about it. He took to his twitter yesterday and wrote:

Planking is THE dumbest sh*t ever. Planking was a way to transport slaves on ships during the slave trade, its not funny. Educate yourselves.

Dont get it twisted. I care less where your dumb butts lay face down and take pictures of the sh*t, I’m just telling you where it came from.

R&B Singer Tank also tweeted his beef with ‘planking’ over the weekend:

We often times follow a trend when we don’t understand its beginning! Planking is not sexy if u know the origin! Wake up BLACK PEOPLE!! The General!

I am not thrilled nor surprised about this so called craze. I find it to be terribly offensive and racist. You can trace the origins of planking back to slavery, when slaves were placed side by side on a boat with their wrists chained to their side by slave masters.

After much speculation on whether or not he would make an appearance on conservative Fox News Host Bill O’Reilly’s show to defend his statements against President Obama, socio-political rapper Lupe Fiasco did indeed sit down with O’Reilly for a brief heated debate.

In defense of his comment that President Obama was the biggest terrorist, he told Bill O’Reilly:To put it into context, I was asked about a song I did called ‘Words I Never Said’ which addresses terrorism. So the statement that I made which was ‘I believe that the biggest terrorist [is] Obama and the United States of America and it’s foreign policy,’ that was what the whole context of everything was. And it’s really just an expression of me trying to understand critically the society.

Bill :You know President Obama’s not a terrorist. He’s trying to do what he believes is the right thing to do. The United States is not a bad nation it’s a noble nation. We’re trying to defend ourselves against people who killed us on 9/11. Then you go out there and you talk to a lot of younger people and this is what gets me. That your constituents are not exactly political science PHDs, okay. They’re impressionable kids.

Lupe: I don’t think that that matters.I don’t think yo need to have a political PHD to understand politics. I don’t think you necessarily need that. And I don’t think that politics are as complex as people like to make them seem or out to be. Richard Nixon said that, you know, if they reduced fear by reducing the causes of fear. In that same interview which I spoke about calling Obama ‘terrorist’ and every president before and after him a terrorist, right, if you’re gonna fight terrorism, right, true terrorism, weaponized fear…in defensive of ourselves we’re fighting, actively fighting something else. But if you’re gonna fight terrorism, to me, you fight the root causes of terrorism.

Bill went on to say that Lupe was “oversimplifying” politics and delivering a message about our government to young people that isn’t true.

Though Lupe may have brought up good points while talking to Russell Simmons for Global Grind, he seemed a little out of his league and ill prepared for this interview.

Mavs' Stevenson Arrested for Public Intoxication

IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Dallas Mavericks guard DeShawn Stevenson has been arrested for public intoxication.

Police in suburban Irving say Stevenson was arrested Tuesday night after reports of an intoxicated person walking through the grounds of an apartment complex. Police say Stevenson didn't know where he was and he was arrested after field sobriety tests.

He was released from jail Wednesday morning after posting bail. Mavericks spokeswoman Sarah Melton said Wednesday the team had no comment on the arrest.
Stevenson will be a free agent this summer.

A 10-year veteran, Stevenson played a key role for the Mavericks as they won their first NBA title against Miami. He started every playoff game until the final three of the finals. Coming off the bench, he provided tenacious defense and outside scoring as Dallas won each of those games.

In the clinching Game 6, Stevenson made three 3-pointers during a pivotal stretch in the first half. He also was in the middle of a skirmish that resulted in three technical fouls, one on him and two against the Heat.

"His toughness and grit was a big part of our team and who we were," coach Rick Carlisle said Tuesday.

Stevenson is a colorful character, perhaps best known for tattoos covering nearly his entire body, including his face and neck. He's also often made provocative comments about LeBron James, such as saying he "checked out" late in Game 4.
