FLOETRY FRIDAYS

Steven "Dok" Randle

Steven I. Randle was born and raised in Vicksburg, Ms.  His passion for writing starting at a young age, but the depth and crux of his words came after leaving the University of Southern Mississippi in a way that did not include a cap...or a gown.  His writing reflects real life in a very 'in your face', 'no holds barred' manner.  Whether in the genre of poetry, spoken word, or a variety of prose, Steven paints a portrait of the essence of reality in all of its splendor and grit.

Sonnet

“Essence of Carpe Diem”

For Time has no respect or love for love.

In Time all cherished things shall drift away.

Mine eyes doth blink the changing stars above.

And Seasons come and go with dews of day.

What thing will boldly halt the hands that fly? Such heroes only come with tales and dreams. As if sea serpents soon reside in skies. And birds were born to navigate the streams.

So woe is he who fails to come to see.

The tribulations that force one to live.

For death will rise as waters leap the sea

And life that halts was never yours to give.

Beauty and wisdom come to those who know

That time lives on beyond the lives below.
