SHOE-ICIDE [10 Min Short Film Directed by @Premier_Guy]
DIRECTED BY EDWARD WORTHY
"Adapted from a poem written by Nija Morenike' Matory, Shoeicide details the life of a young woman who goes from rags to riches and becomes so enamored by material possesions, most favorably her expensive shoes, provided by her husband, that she excuses his infidelity, mental, physical, and emotional abuse. The cycle continues until she is terminally affected by her husbands actions and she takes her own life."

The Throne aka Jay-Z & Kanye West released the visual for their first single “Otis” Thursday Aug. 11th at 8:56 pm on BET, MTV, and Centric. The visual to the video is surprisingly simple, comprising of Jay & Ye in the middle of absolutely nowhere surrounded by a few chicks in a super dope Maybach.
It’s obvious, The Throne is living the “Good Life” but just so you know, the vehicle used in the “Otis” video, will be offered up for auction. Proceeds will be donated towards the East African Drought Disaster.

Actor Idris Elba took a moment out of his busy schedule recently and chatted with The Life Files about how it feels to be called a ‘sex symbol.’ Speaking in his sexy British accent he replied with the humble answer “I don’t know what it feels like to be a sex symbol.” He pushed the topic even further by saying black men are rarely referred to as being sexy. Also, he shared some valuable advice he received from Denzel Washington. Check out an excerpt and watch the interview below.
On How It Feels To Be A Sex Symbol
I always get asked this question and I don’t really have a real satisfactory answer. I don’t know what it feels like to be a sex symbol. When I wake up in the morning I see the same face. I will say this and I’ve said this in the press before, black men, we’re never called sexy, we’re called athletic, intense, we’re described as being the strong type, the silent type, but we’re never really described as sexy.
There’s a real generalization to what I’m saying. In general, the word sexy doesn’t apply to black men particular. In a script, they won’t say a sexy black man they’ll say a muscular black man, an intense black guy….good looking but they won’t say sexy. In that case the word has been thrown at me a few times so I have to say I own it, fine. If it gives me and black men another definition then great, I’ll live with that.
Denzel Washington
On advice from Denzel Washington
Denzel taught me one day…he said, “You’re doing good work. Listen, never read your own press.” I adopted that from Mr. Washington. Yes, sir I salute you no doubt because it definitely kept my perspective real. It doesn’t matter how big people say you are, you’re not as big as you are.
She's covering her 3rd and kounting September issue of a magazine. Now 33-year-old Zoe Saldana is "Black, Latina, & Fierce" on the cover of the September 2011 issue of EBONY magazine.
Gracing the Kover of Latina Magazine.
The star of Colombiana, Zoe Saldana, is gearing up or her release later this month. And she's covering every magazine on the stands in the meantime.
She appears almost ethereal in an Oscar de la Renta coral and metallic sheer dress with a silver sparkling oversized belt on the new EBONY mag cover. And the fab chick is discussing being Black and Latina, her brand new movie, and everything else in between.
Gracing the kover of Women's Health Magazine.
The cover story, written by Adrienne Samuels, tracks Zoe's Queens/Puerto Rican/Dominican roots as her path to get to superstardom. And she discusses how her hardcore background parallels overcoming the hardships of black Hollywood:
“When I go after a part, [people] better watch their backs,” she says. “Not because I’m going to crush everybody, but because I’m going to give the best that I can because I strive for excellence. When you don’t get a part, it is for a reason, and these pieces will fall into place soon. … We have a Black president right now, so why the f--- would I sit down and talk about how hard it is for Black women in Hollywood when there’s a Black president in my country?”
Aside from the normal e-thugging that occurs on twitter on any given day, it’s a breath of fresh air when you can catch a good healthy discussion or debate, especially when it pertains to relationships. Over the weekend, actor Boris Kodjoe gave some good insight into what a ‘Good Man’ should be while conversing with model/actress Claudia Jordan. Claudia tweeted that her mother told her to find ‘some rich, ugly producer and marry him’ because of her troubles with finding a quality man in LA. Boris responded:
“Why he gotta be ugly? Honestly, I think LA is cancerous for relationships. The hustle mentality and ‘gotta make it’ attitude keeps people from cultivating a real connection. No one has time to take anyone in. Everyone is self-centered and wants to ‘keep it moving’ Dudes here are so insecure that they have to switch up a girl every week to hide their ‘weaknesses’. A real man embraces them!”
From that response, he went on to create the trending topic, #How2baMan, where he shared what he believes are qualities that all men should possess. Check them out below:
- Embrace your imperfections
- Laugh at yourself. A woman likes a man who doesn’t take himself too serious.
- Fix or build something with your hands. It’ll show her that you are capable of taking care of a home.
- Know how to cook and clean. It’ll show her that you don’t need her but that you WANT her.
- Get your passport and travel. A man needs to see the world.
- Communicate without cursing. You don’t need to curse to make a point. Cursing shows lack of substance.
- In bed, take care of your woman first. When she’s satisfied you are DA MAN!!!
- Stay in shape. It’ll show her that you care about yourself and therefore are able to care about her.
- Take care of your responsibilities. Anything less is unacceptable. A boy is irresponsible, not a man.
- Open her her door and pull out her chair. It shows her that you honor traditional values. Trust me, she will
do the same.
- Be present! Take her in with your eyes and ears. Your attention will make her feel loved and she won’t
ever nag you.
- Read a f—ing book! (Sorry, violation of ‘no cursing’ rule) But seriously, ignorance is a major turn-off.
Book on tape will do.
- Have an ambition. You don’t need to be rich but you need to show direction and motivation. Keep a job!
- Last one for today: Treat a woman the way you would want your daughter to be treated. Anything less is
unacceptable.”
And I have one more to add to the list...........PULL UP YOUR D*MN PANTS!!!

Jay tops the list because he 'makes brilliant business moves but keeps putting out relevant music,' Forbes writer tells MTV News.
By Gil Kaufman
Jay-Z and Kanye West are poised to have one of the best weeks ever. Upon, their truly out-of-the-box I-tunes only release - they have already positioned themselves to seize the top of the charts with Watch the Throne. According to Billboard, Jigga Man and Yeezy’s new album is on track to be the second highest-selling debut of the year – bested only by Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’.
But before the final sales figures are even tabulated, the superstar hip-hop duo are already rap's top cops, thanks to their #1 and #3 ranking on the Forbes Hip-Hop's Top Earners list.
Entrepreneur Jigga earned the first spot with more than $37 million in earnings, just outpacing another serious multi-hyphenate, Diddy, who was no joke just behind at $35 million. It's the fourth time Jay has worn the Cash Kings crown in the past five years. Kanye was a bit further behind at #3 with a not-too-shabby $16 million.
Jay-Z & Kanye West - Otis (Official Video Teaser)
Don't miss the premiere of Kanye West and Jay-Z's "Otis" video Thursday at 8:56 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV.com and BET!
Zack O'Malley Greenburg, Forbes staff writer and author of the Jay-Z biography "Empire State of Mind: How Jay-Z Went From Street Corner to Corner Office," said Jay has become the "gold standard" to which hip-hop artists aspire when it comes to mixing business and music. "I'd put Diddy and Birdman up there too, but Jay is always at the top of the Cash Kings list because he makes brilliant business moves but keeps putting out relevant music," he told MTV News. "Others [on the list] are more one or the other, but he keeps doing both."
Diddy's cash came mostly from his stakes in the clothing lines Sean John and Enyce, his Bad Boy record label and marketing firm Blue Flame. In fact, only 20 percent of his earnings were from music, with the vast majority coming from his lucrative partnership with Ciroc vodka.
West, whose video with Jay for "Otis" is slated to premiere Thursday on MTV, is back in the top three for the first time since 2009, and considering that Watch The Throne hit #1 in 23 countries, it's likely he'll be in the running again next year. Even after spending much of last year in prison, Lil Wayne was tied at #4 with $15 million thanks to his relentless touring and strong album sales. He was locked up with mentor/ Cash Money boss Birdman at the #4 spot, who made major dough thanks to a roster that includes Weezy, Drake and Nicki Minaj.
Eminem was also tied at #6 with $14 million, mostly thanks to the smash 5.7 million in sales of Recovery, deals with Lipton and Chrysler, and his handful of shows with Jay in New York and Detroit, sharing the spot with his mentor, Dr. Dre, who made his scratch from producer fees and his Beats by Dre audio line.
Others who made the list: Akon (#9, $13 million), Ludacris, (#19, $12 million), chart newcomer Wiz Khalifa, (#11, $11 million), Drake (#11, $11 million), Pharrell (#13, $10 million), Timbaland, (#14, $7 million), Swizz Beatz (#15, $6.5 million), the first female rapper to ever make the list, Minaj (#15, $6.5 million), Rick Ross (#17, $6 million), 50 Cent (#17, $6 million), chart newbie Pitbull (#17, $6 million), T-Pain (#20, $5 million) and yet another rookie, B.o.B (#20, $5 million).
As for the rookies (with the exception of Birdman, who has long been a big earner but was reclassified from just an executive to a multi-hyphenate this year), O'Malley Greenburg said they all had unique paths to the list. While touring is typically a way for major rock and pop acts to make various Forbes earners lists, he said for hip-hop artists, it's often their non-musical side ventures that get them in the running.
Pitbull put out two albums, had a number of hit singles and toured a bit during the reporting period the list covered, but he made the bulk of his money on endorsements, including a seven-figure deal with Kodak that earned him even more endorsement gigs.
Wiz, on the other hand, hit the road hard, making half of his $11 million from playing 133 shows, where he also racked up huge merchandise sales. "He toured far more than anyone else on the list, and as his star rose during the year, you could tell he was getting more and more per gig," O'Malley Greenburg said. "But he also sells a ton of merch and has managed to sell himself as a 420 lifestyle, which you think someone else would have taken advantage of." That toking lifestyle includes Wiz-branded rolling papers and weed grinders, hoodies with zippered pockets the size of dime bags and other pot-related knickknacks that have made him Hot Topic's #1 seller.
Minaj, however, did it the old-fashioned way by becoming one of the top-selling artists in terms of album sales on the list, while B.o.B is a combination of both, with solid money from touring, a hot album and guest-appearance fees, as well as a lucrative Adidas endorsement deal.
"They're all savvy artists," he said. "The beauty of hip-hop is that you look at this list and there are no two people on there for the exact same reason. Each has a slightly different template."
The figures were tabulated with estimates made from income earned from May 2010 to May 2011 from record sales, touring, digital downloads, films, merchandise sales, endorsements, books and other entertainment ventures.

Cee-Lo Green Compares Gnarls Barkley, Goodie Mob And Solo Strategies
by Omar Burgess
The Lady Killer explains how he plans to balance his solo career with upcoming albums with Danger Mouse and Goodie Mob.
Gnarls Barkley
His Hip Hop fans want another Goodie Mob album, and his Alternative fans want another Gnarls Barkley album. Meanwhile, Cee-Lo Green is touring and promoting his latest solo album, The Lady Killer, while his fellow Gnarls Barkley member has recently wrapped an album inspired by Italian film scores from the 1960’s and 1970’s. If it sounds like a lot to handle, that’s possibly because it is. To hear Cee-Lo tell it, multitasking is the key to satisfying his diverse fan base.
“We’ll definitely get together sometime very soon to start talks about what we collectively agree is the new direction for Gnarls Barkley,” Cee-Lo recently told Rolling Stone. “We talk on occasion and he’s about as preoccupied as I am at the moment, doing other projects. But then again, we might not talk at all and just do it when the time is right because we’ve never discussed it before.”
Green also added that he and the rest of the Goodie Mob had finished “more than a few” tracks for their upcoming reunion album. The group has not recorded an album with a full roster since 1999’s World Party. Having his hands full with a solo album, Cee-Lo said, “I’m very proud and passionate about it…I feel very enthusiastic about being able to give it my undivided attention to finish it.”

Actor Jaleel White, Once Steve Urkel, Stars as Cee Lo Green in New Music Video, 'Cry Baby'
Cee Lo Green - Cry Baby
You won't find R&B star Cee Lo Green in his latest music video, "Cry Baby."
Jaleel White
Instead, the king of cool was replaced by none other than Jaleel White, the actor who made a name for himself playing the dork-tastic, "did I do that?" character Steve Urkel on the '90s sitcom "Family Matters."
White stars in the happy-go-lucky, 1950s sock-hop-eque music video, complete with opening credits: "Jaleel White as Cee Lo Green."
In a recent interview with "Nightline," White talked about how his career has evolved since playing his break-out, four-eyed character at the tender age of 12, but said that Urkel is dead to him now.
"For me talking about Steve Urkel and Stefan Urquelle are, like, honestly talking about deceased relatives," he said. "Those characters, those people that lived inside of me, and I just kind of keep them in a little box now."
Now at 34, White has a 2-year-old daughter and a college degree in film and television from UCLA. He's the voice of "Sonic the Hedgehog" and starred in the movie "Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer" as the banjo-plucking Mr. Todd.
Reflecting on his time in the business, White gave this advice for how to survive being a child star: be professional.
"You better be good at what you do," he said. "I like to think I'm very good at what I do. I look at other child actors. I look at other child performers. I watch the beats that they play on camera, and I'm proud of my performances."
Watch the full interview with Jaleel White on the "Primetime Nightline: Celebrity Secrets" special "Underage and Famous" tonight at 10 ET/9 CT on ABC
